India to Adopt Steel Slag for Roads, Aiming at Sustainable Infrastructure
Dr. V.K. Saraswat, Member (Science) of Niti Aayog, has announced new guidelines for using steel slag in road construction, signaling a move towards sustainable infrastructure. The announcement was made at the First International Conference on Steel Slag Road in New Delhi, co-organized by CSIR-CRRI and PHDCCI.

Shri Nagendra Nath Sinha, Secretary of the Ministry of Steel, highlighted the research and development efforts behind these standards, noting a major R&D project sponsored by the Ministry to CSIR-Central Road Research Institute. The guidelines also include a framework for the safe management and storage of steel slag to prevent environmental pollution, underscoring a commitment to sustainable construction practices. Dr. N.
